Voluntary Fire Fighters Express! Easy information for you!

 Hi all,

I have started this web page so YOU can understand more about voluntary fire fighters. These people do firefighting for free. They go and risk there lives for our country. On the 17/12/09 you might of heard of the Tea Tree Fire. That was reported in at around 2.00 pm and was, at that time, a grass fire. Many, many voluntary fire fighters went out to help stop it. The fire had struck a tree and that was the end of all hope because, up in the Tinderries, there were many trees. It eventually progressed into a major bushfire and wiped out the whole Tinderies nature wildlife reserve.

Some words from the wildlife president at the time of the fires:

"Over 9000 hectares have been burnt and the RFS volunteers and NPWS staff have been doing an admirable job protecting people, property and animals. The fire has eased off though there is still a lot of work to do before it is stopped.

We were allowed into the fire area yesterday and it is devastating to see the damage that has been done. We drove around looking for injured wildlife and there were a number of kangaroos and wallabies who were killed by the fires. We did see a few uninjured survivors which is encouraging. A lot of domestic animals have been killed or badly injured and had to be euthanized which is really heartbreaking to see.

From the area we covered, we saw no injured wildlife, only those who had been killed, though animals may still show up once we are able to get into the hills. Currently, it isn't possible to get into a lot of the area due to the danger from falling trees and the areas that are still burning.

One good note though, we did have two uninjured hobby falcon chicks who were picked up by RFS volunteers when the tree their nest was in came down. We dropped them to Brett and Tina last night and they are doing well."

There were many tragedies but as the fire slowed down and area was cleared out more animal and people were found injured but not dead. Many houses were still standing and no one died.

Any way, thanx to our voluntary firefighters, everything ended up alright, not perfect, but alright. On the next few pages of my website you can learn how to prevent fires starting and prepare your houses because, like this fire, other fires could start any time and go any direction.

Below are some pictures taken during and after some Australian bush fires. Some animals, people and place will be seen but it is all real :(.

Please review some of my other webpage’s so can understand and help stop fires. On my preparation page there is information on how you and your kids can make your community safe. There are many different ways you can prepare and help. On my fire page you can learn a bit more about fires and learn how they can be started. There is also some other information on how you can become a firefighter and what firefighting is about.
